It is Wednesday, May 29, and our last day on Rays of Peace campus. Tomorrow morning we leave Rays of Peace Campus and travel and embrace our full touristy selves as we visit a variety of sites (stay posted) in the coming days.
Monday and Tuesday became "check everything and fix it if there's a problem" days.
Monday was spent troubleshooting why the pumps were not working, and when that was figured out, the final electrical work needed to be done.
The team worked with Solar PV to install a transfer switch, breaker box, and all the necessary wirings to the control box in the shelter. In simple terms, we made sure that all the wiring was easy to follow and labeled for troubleshooting purposes. This took a majority of the morning, and when it was completed, the distribution system was tested.
The team spread out over the entirety of the campus, from the shelter to each of the tanks on top of the roofs. This included the Victory Children Home roof, the kitchen roof, and the Rose of Sharon roof. If you would have seen our team for a majority of the afternoon, we were yelling "how much water has filled the tank?" across large distances and standing next to all of the piping, checking for leaking.
It was quite entertaining and chaotic, and most importantly, successful.
At the conclusion of Tuesday, we had an operating and successful system. The pressures in the pipes were what they were supposed to be (and lined up with our calculations), and the proper level control in the tanks controlled whether or not the pumps were on. This means our float switches, float valves, and pressure switches all worked the way that we intended!!!
There is one part of the system that will need to be added (and ordered by Rays of Peace). This is a simple switch that will be wired externally to our control box, for, in complex engineering terms, will control the pump in the control box. This is due to something we didn't predict to be an issue, but will be an easy fix and addition.
Wednesday was spent cleaning, organizing, and helping out the Land Development Team. The kids went to school today so the campus was not nearly as loud and chaotic as it normally is. We had the opportunity to walk the kids to school (nearby walk) and to pick them up. We also had time to play more volleyball with the kids, make bracelets, and spend time with them!
The kids gave us gifts as "thank you's" for coming, and our hearts are full but also sad.
Tomorrow we leave to explore! Stay tuned for updates.
Ways we have seen God:
-The successful system. SUCH an answer to prayer. I cannot restate enough how even in our preparation and work in Collab, there are and were still so many unknowns. There were CRAZY challenges we had to overcome, and many runs to the local hardware and plumbing store ( and one big trip to Bangalore)
-The time that we have had with the kids. We have held an Olympics, had so many dance parties, played countless hours of volleyball, and enjoyed every meal with these kids. They truly have impacted us in ways that we cannot explain.
-The testimonies of the founders of the Victory Children Home and Rose of Sharon have been hugely impactful on our lives. God is truly working and has worked in the hearts of the people here and it's inspiring to see how God has worked in their lives and opened doors to their ministry.
