Sunday
Sunday was a good change of pace, and a nice recovery from the week of work. We were able to host a church service on the Rays of Peace campus and invite villagers nearby to come attend the service. Some members of the Solar PV team were able to give their testimonies and Scripture reading.
There were a few moments of stressful times at the end of the service, but it was such a blessing how God provided for Rays of Peace.
We spent the day with the kids, playing hours of volleyball, resting, reading, and finished the evening with devos and fellowship.
We announced the winners of the Olympics (GREEN TEAM FOR THE WIN) and celebrated with some ice cream
Work Day 7
CAWS started the day by testing our system, and quickly we were hit with a roadblock. Our pump in the 15,000L cistern seemed to have power but the pump itself was not pumping water (major issue)
We spent a majority of the day troubleshooting this problem. This included taking the pump out of the cistern and checking all of the possible reasons that the pump was not working. We exhausted a lot of the potential options before identifying the issue of a wiring mistake. We corrected this issue, and then attacked a similar issue with the second pump. This took a majority of the day, lots of frustration, extra buckets of water, but overall, a good learning experience.
At the conclusion of the day, half of the system has been tested and is mostly working, but we need prayers for the rest of the system as we test it.
The tasks that need to still be accomplished are as follows
Rewire/reconduit items in the shelter
Label and mark tank quantities and electrical breakers
Fix leaks
Fill in trenches (we have lots of trenches dug for where our pipes have been run)
CLEAN/organize/repack
Today we will mix this up. Here are the highlights
-Liv worked really hard on acquiring raw materials, designing an action plan, drilling, and installing a shelf in the kitchen to hold the transformer for the UV. She wants to emphasize that used FOUR, yes you read that right, FOUR whole zipties to hold the wires in place so they would be out of the way and wouldn't impede anyone else's work.
-Regan wrote her magnum opus (aka she worked on the Operations and Maintenance Manual)
-Cassie kissed a gecko and was kissed by electricity (shes okay, I promise)
-Emma learned a Indian dance from the boys in the dormitory and will be performing for the rest of us tomorrow
-Caitlin did the worm and made one minor wiring mistake which may or may not have caused the entire day to be dedicated to fixing
-Candace went swimming in the cistern and enjoyed the cool E.Coli water
-Judy led the dance party in the girls dormitory and has some sick moves. She also translated the rules for corn hole.
