Days 3 and 4 have been just as, if not more, chaotic and busy as days 1 and 2, but rewarding nonetheless.
We have gotten into a decent routine of breakfast, work from 8:30-1:30, a lunch break, work until 4:30, a tea break, time with kids from 5-7pm, devos, then dinner and a recap of the days events.
Our team has had many ups and downs, but overall it has been a blessing to be here with both Solar PV and Land Development (for those who don't know, these are other Collaboratory teams that also have partnered with Rays of Peace)
We have split up into four teams over the course of the few days.
One team, composed of Regan, Sam, have been working to install float valves in the tanks in each of the buildings. These float valves (ball float valves) are how we are telling the pumps they can turn off because the tanks are full of water.
Cassie, Candace and Caitlin have worked to install the softening system in the shelter. This includes the softener, the manifold, and all the piping that this consists of, going into and out of the building. Additionally, float switches have been wired in each of the cisterns as well as the pumps. The next step will be to finish the softening system completely and to make the necessary electrical connections using a junction box.
Nate and Emma have been working on the wastewater part of our system. This includes the brine and disposal due to the system running. Though there have been some setbacks with trenching and supplies, the team continues to lay wastewater pipe in the coming days.
Liv and Professor Lockwood have been working primarily in the kitchen small storage room. In this room they have piped the RO system and figured out efficient ways to place piping so that the final storage tank of filtered and purified water can be reached and is accessible in the kitchen.
We have been able to play lots of volleyball each day with the kids, in addition to new games, such as Salthouse, and cricket! We have enjoyed variations of curries and rice for each meal, and enjoyed tea and coffee daily. The best part (we can all agree) is the mangos!!!
God has protected each and every one of us, and we pray that He continues to do so.
Some ways you can pray:
-Continued safety (240V is nothing to mess around with, and kids + tools = danger)
-LOTS of productivity and efficiency in our work (we are hoping to have things in the softening system ready to test by Saturday)
-Continued relationships and intentionality with the kids
Some ways we have seen God:
-Through the kids. The way they love us and the way we love them
-Through His hand in our work, and provision of tools/ convenience of location to a hardware store
-Successful devotions/testimonies each evening
-Deepened relationships with the kids
